2023-DEC-30 - Today's unpleasant discovery: HST on a rotisserie chicken!! Really?Did you realize that you have to pay HST when you buy a rotisserie chicken at the supermarket? I made this unpleasant discovery today. I was happy that I got a deal on a chicken from PC Optimum, the President's Choice program; $3 off so $10 instead of the usual rip off price of $13. But the bottom line was $11.29! That's because you have to pay $1.30 in HST on what is essentially a grocery item, I assume just because they cooked it for you. So if I didn't get the deal I would have paid $14.68 for a cooked chicken. Really!!!!!!! |
